Didja blink?

If you live in the STL area (and maybe other areas, who knows) and you blinked, you probably missed the entire fall season. In mere hours the trees went from "woo-hoo, it's summer again!" to "oh, I guess it's time to change colors" to "leaves? what leaves? Orange is so LAST SEASON, we ditched out colors in favor of winter gray". So if you blinked and missed fall, like I did. Don't fret. At least we'll still have winter.

I actually heard someone in the grocery store say "I love Saint Louis because it has all 4 seasons". I wanted to stop and say "yeah, 5 1/2 months of blistering summer, 5 1/2 months of nipply winter, and about 4 weeks of 'other' which can't usually be categorized either way but is still leaning one way moreso than the other". But I didn't. Because that would have been weird.

And just for the record. Not all Democrats are on welfare. And by the way, even if you meet one that is, not all of them are stupid, irresponsible lumps of wasted human flesh. And you can keep your pretty little house and your perfectly prepared dinners. Something as stupid as a knee injury or a broken arm could bring that all crashing down. Unless you are part of the upper 5% (if you are and are reading my blog, could you just pay my mortgage? It would be a drop in the bucket for you and would alter the course of my whole family's lives forever) of the holders of wealth you're just one missed stair tread or one wrong move in the gym away from being where I and many MANY others are right this minute.

I had thought to keep the positive outlook I felt when it was clear that Obama won with a clear majority. I fell off that wagon today. I think I'll peruse his website and see what hope he has to offer me for tomorrow. I may even drop him a line. It doesn't matter that he can't possibly read every word written to him, but I know that he hears me in the voices of the millions of others who share the kind of life I lead.

Mr. Obama, if you're reading, don't let me down man. I'm counting on you.
