Good thing the dog isn't tiny, he'd blow away going potty. I have never seen wind like this in STL. Well, that's not entirely true. I've seen wind like this for 10 minutes before a front moves in and dumps a bunch of rain and lightning and hail on us. This wind though, it's sustained for hours. I was actually worried about sleeping upstairs wondering if the room over our heads still has shingles. Crazy. Of course, along with the wind comes a headache. I had to go hunt down warm clothing for the kids downstairs because, of course, I put them all away. The forecast says rain for today too. I've lost count of rainy days. Unfortunately, for allergy sufferers this means misery. Oak pollen has coated our vehicles green every day for the last week. Ahhh-chooo!
In true mommy foresight fashion I grabbed a couple of packages of play-doh at Target the other night. Thank goodness I did too, because with all this rain they needed something new to occupy themselves. I had been making our own play-doh but I actually think it is cheaper to buy it. Some day I'll cost it out. Maybe in Algebra class next fall.
Speaking of Algebra, I am officially an Elementary Ed major. I have mixed feelings about it but the negative feelings stem from the short term changes. In the long run this will be great for me. In the short term I am mourning the loss of fun classes that are right up my alley. I mean, c'mon, College Algebra or Movement and Music for preschoolers? Gender studies in media or Creative Experiences for early care? I'd prefer fun, but in the long term the "real" classes will be better.
I've also been on the hunt for a decent part time job. A bonus would be if it was in my chosen field. At this point I'd consider just about anything clerical/office too. Parents As Teachers is on my short list of real possibilities, as is the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor position for WIC. I am contacting a couple of agencies that advocate for and work with Early Learning so perhaps something will work out there as well.
So what're you peeps up to?
