Nothing quite like a fresh pot of coffee and a bag of sunflower seed cookies on a thunderstormy morning. It really is heaven in my estimation. Even though 3 of the 4 kids are awake, it's still heaven. Mother nature helped me out by sending unexpected hail my way, so I sent the kids to the basement because around here hail is often followed by tornado sirens. This event seems to be just a storm (no thunder or lightning even) imbedded with a bit of rain and a bunch of nickel sized hail. Still, they're playing quietly together downstairs, and I'm relishing the patter and clink of the storm with my nice cup of coffee and the sunflower seed cookies.
While I'm here, let me expand on why these cookies rock my world. All you have to do is read the ingredients. Let me type them for you. Rolled Oats, Sweet cream butter, brown sugar, enriched unbleached flour, sunflower seeds, sugar, whole eggs, baing soda, vanilla extract. That's it. Just like I would make. Only already made. And each cookie is a little bigger than a quarter, perfect for dunking and shoving into your mouth whole. Grace's Best sunflower seed cookies. Oh, did I mention they are made locally in Parkville, MO? Even better.
