Some days just come together.

Today is just about as perfect a day at home as one can get. The kids got a late start, thus allowing me to get a late start. We waltzed leisurely through our morning, the kids got their own breakfast. Zella is content to watch Dora, Oak is drifting in and out of sleep all on his own in the Amby hammock, watching Dora a bit, napping a bit, waking to watch Dora a bit more. I am able to blog. I had a visitor, Ms. Carol from Parents As Teachers. I like her. She's nice. The kids like her. Zella was in an obnoxious stubborn mood with her which made the 30 month assessment amusing. Carol would say "Zella, can you tug on your ear". Zella would shake her head no and continue to thread the cheerios onto the shoelace, scrutinizing Ms. Carol out of the corner of her eye. Stinker. Oak woke just minutes before she arrived and showed her his amazing skills. He is up on hands and knees rocking now. HUZZAH! Actually, I resist the urge to grab him up and not allow him to maneuver himself this way. It's not fair for him to be doing that just now. He's much too little, my little baby, to be trying to crawl. *I* am not ready for that, and besides, there's still holes in my floor. That simply won't do to have a crawler with holes in the floor.

With Carol I addressed Zella's sensitivity to sounds. Dance classes lasted only a month. She loved ballet but tap sent her into the corner of the room, hands over ears, screaming. As soon as the tap shoes came off, she was fine again. Also electric toothbrushes (the kids kind) send her running to the other end of the house with hands over ears. Electric drills, the dishwasher, the fan upstairs, many of the computer games the kids play, all set her to ear plugging panic. Very strange. Carol had nothing to offer as to a possible cause to this. Zella is not on the autistic spectrum in any other way so that's not likely. I had considered Aspergers or something along those lines but it doesn't seem to be the issue. More likely it's just a stage young children go through. Neall has oober sensitive ears so perhaps she just takes after him. I will mention it to our doc next time we're in. Perhaps some inner ear pressure or something could be to blame. She does have allergies and such.

In other news, a very very good friend is pregnant and this is on my mind. I'm so darn excited for her. I can't even express my excitement in writing. My heart is about triple the size it is supposed to be, all because of this fabulous news. If anything deserves a couple of huzzah's, this does. So...

HUZZAH! HUZZAH! HUZZAH!
