I've been clearing out boxes from the basement, cooking, cleaning (100 year old dust in the walls gets everywhere when you disturb it), schooling children, cleaning up the yard, longing for a fire pit...
Next week I'll have a new bathroom though. And the stairs are almost done. Wallboard is going up today. I have a wall in my room now, no more drop-off to haunt my dreams. The kids have been remarkably resilient though we all have snotty noses and chapped lips, presumably due to the 100 year old dust and exacerbated by the changing at a moments notice temps.
Speaking of changing temps, mother nature likes to mess with my head. We had a weekend where highs were in the low 70's, lows in the 40's. This week it's 90 and hot and sticky all over again. I knew it would be like that, but I was still hoping to enjoy 70 another day or 2 before diving back into summer. I hate opressive heat, sweating, stickiness, mosquitos. I want falling leaves and pumpkins and costumes and orange lights. Ahhhh, if I close my eyes I can smell fall. Pumpkin muffins and banana bread and corn stalks. I just had a homeschool brainstorm. I think we'll make a list of all the words we can think of that represent fall. Yes, yes, that sounds like the perfect project.
The dilemma of the day is: What color to paint the bathroom? The living room is going to be purpl/periwinkle with white/slightly creamy trim. The new dining room is still open to color suggestions but we hope it will be asian inspired so rich colors will likely win. The kitchen is black/white/red/teal/yellow 50's style. Upstairs, well, I don't know yet up there either. OUR bedroom will be a nice sunny pale yellow with carpeted floors. Stairs will be carpet as well. Ah, decisions decisions.
