"oh look, our Pooh halloween costumes"
"oh, cool, was I that when I was a baby?"
"yes you were, this year you can be a big tigger"
"but Mooooooooooo-oooooo-ooooooooooommmmmmmmm, I want to be darth tater or teeter-totter for halloween" "and tigger isn't PRETTY"
So, I glean from the above conversation that we have outgrown Pooh and friends. Sniff, sniff. For those of you who don't speak 6-going-on-sixteen language and I'm-five-and-I-want-to-be-cool language, Darth Tater is Darth Vader and Teeter-totter is Harry Potter. Tigger isn't pretty because it's not a cheerleader costume and everyone knows that all of the COOLEST almost 7 year olds are going to be cheerleaders for halloween. I couldn't budge her on the "cheerleader tigger" option. Therefore, I listed the Pooh family on Craigs List as a lot. I figured we weren't the only freakish folks who liked to dress in themes for halloween, maybe I'd help dig us out of this hole a bit, declutter the basement and make the kids happy all at once.
Shortly after listing the costumes and snapping a pic of zella the hunny pot I get an email from a woman who already has most of the costumes but is missing Tigger for her husband. She sounds like my kind of people. She wants to know if I will split the lot and just sell the adult Tigger. She's offering $35. I was only asking $100 for the 5 costumes, so this is more than I was expecting for one. I zap her an email back to say "sure, when do we make the exchange". Her email back to me made my night.
She said "are you SERIOUS?" and went on to explain that a request to break up a lot of something is usually not well received. She mentioned getting snottiness in return and she used lots of excited exclamation points and I could almost hear her happy squealing through the email. Such a simple thing to say "yes" to someone expecting a no. I made her night (she said so) and her telling me that made MY night. And so it goes.
So, I may be a dunce with money, but at least I am nice. And after all, they can't eat me, right? I mean really, no matter how bad things get, they can't eat me. And with that thought in my head I will sleep tonight.
In other news, my room is primed and we've moved in. Some day I'll be able to afford the sunny yellow paint I want to use in there. For now though, it's space. You guys are not going to believe the difference in the upstairs. The stairs are a breeze to climb, the new layout of the rooms is amazing, there is space for everything (and soon all will be in it's place), and I can picture myself in this house for 5 more years. If you'd said last week that I had to stay five more years I'd have cried. But now it's coming together and it looks amazing. I can't wait to have a housewarming party.
